Hanumakonda: House Burglar Arrested, Stolen Gold Recovered
Hanumakonda: Police arrested a man involved in house burglaries within the limits of the KUC Police Station on Friday. The police recovered gold ornaments weighing about 40 grams, worth nearly ₹5 lakh.
Sharing details, Central Zone DCP Dara Kavitha said the accused was identified as Sabbani Ranjith (24), a resident of Rechini village in Tandur mandal of Asifabad district. He had been living in the Hanumakonda area and working as a construction labourer.
Police said Ranjith spent most of his earnings on alcohol and personal enjoyment. As his income was not enough, he decided to earn money through theft. In 2020, he committed a burglary in the Mancherial police station limits and was arrested and sent to jail. After his release, he stayed with his family for the past three years in Venkateshwara Colony under KUC police limits.
On December 12, Ranjith noticed that a couple in his neighbourhood had locked their house and gone to watch a movie. Taking advantage of the situation, he broke the lock, entered the house, and stole four gold bangles weighing about 40 grams, ₹40,000 in cash, and a mobile phone.

After discovering the burglary, the victims filed a police complaint, initially claiming that 250 grams of gold ornaments were stolen. Police immediately began an investigation and kept a close watch on Ranjith’s movements.
On Friday morning, during joint checks by KUC and CCS Police at KU Junction, police noticed Ranjith behaving suspiciously. He was detained and searched, and the stolen gold bangles were recovered from him. During questioning, he admitted to stealing only four gold bangles, ₹40,000, and a mobile phone.
After rechecking the house, police confirmed that the remaining gold ornaments were still inside the house. The accused has been taken into custody, and further legal action is being taken.
