NIA Arrests Social Activist Over Alleged Pro-Maoist Remarks in Warangal
Warangal: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday arrested social activist and former Maoist leader Gade Inna Reddy, also known as Gade Innaiah, at Regadi Thanda village in Zaffargadh mandal of Jangaon district.
NIA teams searched his house and the orphanage he runs around 11 am, using four vehicles. Officials seized documents and electronic devices during the raid. He was booked under Crime No. RC-04/2025/NIA/HYD, with charges under Section 132 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 13 and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), 1967.
According to the agency, Innaiah made speeches that supported the banned CPI Maoist and encouraged people to act against the government and security forces. Officials said they have video recordings of his speeches made at a memorial meeting for Maoist leader Katta Ramachandra Reddy, also known as Vikalp. Around 150 to 200 people were reportedly present at the meeting.
NIA officials said Innaiah had been under surveillance for some time. He had recently travelled to Chhattisgarh to meet the family of slain Maoist leader Hidma and appeared in several YouTube interviews. In these videos, he allegedly made critical remarks against the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He also criticised ‘Operation Kakar’, calling it a conspiracy by the Central government.
